FAQ's

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the intended use of these products?

DYC's peelable automotive coatings empower individuals to effortlessly transform the color of their car, wheels, emblems, trim, and more, requiring no prior experience.

Which surfaces are compatible with the spray application of these products?

Coatings are designed for optimal results when sprayed on well-maintained original equipment manufacturer (OEM) surfaces. While they can be successfully used on various surfaces like aged paint, oxidized paint, primer, bondo, repainted surfaces, repaired surfaces, aftermarket wheels, aftermarket emblems, fiberglass, plastics, etc., our rigorous testing focuses on good condition OEM surfaces. It's recommended to test a small area before applying on a larger scale, especially on surfaces other than good condition OEM, as it introduces additional variables.

How hard is it to dip my car or wheels?

DYC products cater to DIY customers who spray emblems, wheels, and vehicles daily with minimal prior experience. While user-friendly, there's always a chance of human error due to variations in prep process, application technique, and other factors influencing the final result.

How long can I expect these coatings to last?

DYC products, when applied correctly, can last 3+ years or more without needing touch-ups. The spray technique and number of coats significantly impact durability. Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial, and DYC offers dedicated products for that. Note that bright colors may fade with prolonged UV exposure, so consider this when choosing a color for long-lasting results.

How well does it hold up to the elements like sun and winter conditions?

DYC coatings resist elements like sun, winter ice, cold, and salt. Many customers dip their vehicles to protect them in winter. Note: Fluorescent, Blaze, and bright pearls may fade with prolonged UV exposure. We highly recommend Dip Coat™ Protective Spray to minimize marring and enhance UV protection.

How well do these coatings withstand exposure to gasoline?

DYC coatings are solvent-based and not resistant to gasoline. Use caution when refueling or handling gasoline near a dipped surface. For gasoline resistance, choose DipArmor™ Advanced TopCoat.

Is it safe to dip my recently purchased or freshly painted vehicle?

For new or freshly repainted cars, DYC recommends testing the paint before applying any peelable coating. If your car is brand new, it's advisable to wait 6 months from the manufacturing date before using removable coatings. If you can't wait, apply the product to a small hidden area first, and remove it after drying to ensure the paint is cured enough for the process. Always test before dipping a repainted or repaired car.
